Research on environmental issues in Africa, common-pool resource management, institutions, protected areas, indigenous peoples, peasants. Jobs: Assistant at Department of Social Anthropology, Zurich (1995 – 2001, 2006), project coordinator NCCR North-South, projects on oil exploitation and indigenous peoples, commons management in African Floodplains (AFWeP), participatory approaches in protected areas. Director of the Swiss Network for International Studies (2008-9). Assistant Professor at the University of Berne (2009-).
