Infrastructure

The library has some 30 work spaces including 15 work spaces for laptop users and 8 computer-work spaces (iMacs). WirelessLAN is also available in the room. Three machines for photocopying, scanning and printing are available in the Copy Room. Copy cards worth 20 Swiss francs can be bought at the counter in the library; cards can be recharged on the 3rd floor at the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research.
There are 16 lockers just outside the library which can be used free of charge for a maximum of 84 days.
If you wish to bring your books back outside of the library’s opening hours, please deposit them in the letter box labelled “Ethnologisches Seminar, Bibliothek, Medienrückgabe” which is located outside the main entrance of the building.

Services

All titles of the library’s collection may be borrowed except for journals and some encyclopaedia. You may make a reservation on an item via the catalogue. If you wish we send books (10 francs a piece) or photocopies (8 francs per 20 pages) to you.
The library also hosts so-called “Handapparate” where books are kept that are presently used for teaching. These books may only be used in the library but cannot be borrowed except if authorised by the course lecturer.
If you know of an important title that we do not already have in our collection, you have the possibility to make a purchasing suggestion by filling out the appropriate form (Anschaffungsvorschlag).
